Implementation of SAP S/4HANA Finance at Auto-Teile-Unger
As part of its IT strategy, A.T.U is planning to modernise its application architecture based on a defined IT roadmap.
The company is relying on SAP’s integrated suite of solutions, with consenso Consulting responsible for the end-to-end implementation.
A.T.U successfully replaced its existing Oracle FI solution with SAP S/4HANA Finance in just seven months.
The first step on the roadmap
The first step on the roadmap – replacing the existing Oracle FI solution with SAP S/4HANA Finance – was successfully completed in October 2018.
The project involved migrating the existing financial processes to a standalone finance and controlling system. The target system is based on the latest SAP HANA technology, and the entire transition was completed on schedule in just seven months.
The following processes were implemented:
- FI/CO organisational structures
- SAP Business Partner
- General ledger accounting
- Accounts receivable
- Accounts payable
- Asset accounting
- Bank accounting
- Financial closing & reporting
- Consolidation (EC-CS)
- Cost centre and profit centre accounting
- Reporting
The second step: SAP S/4HANA Retail
The second step involves migrating the existing merchandise management processes to SAP S/4HANA Retail for Merchandise Management, gradually creating a highly integrated system landscape.
The introduction of SAP S/4HANA Retail requires the following processes to be implemented:
- Master data management
- Supplier management
- Replenishment and procurement
- Invoice verification
- Inventory counting and stock management
- Warehouse logistics
- Returns processing
Replacement of the existing system
A.T.U aims to replace its current legacy system. As part of the SAP implementation, numerous historically evolved processes are also being reviewed, the heterogeneous system landscape is being assessed, and options are being explored for implementing the new solution as closely as possible to SAP standard functionality and based on best-practice approaches.
Approach: The consenso implementation methodology
The consenso implementation methodology was chosen for the project.
Its agile rapid prototyping approach enables requirements to be implemented in the system at an early stage.
The solutions are refined step by step in close collaboration with the business departments and IT teams. Results are carried forward from one prototype to the next, through to the pilot, significantly reducing the overall implementation time.
The first prototype was successfully completed as early as August 2018.
