Successful SAP S/4HANA transformation at DE VERBAND

DE VERBAND, based in Luxembourg, was established in 1909 and is a co-operative under commercial law. The shareholders are local associations, Raiffeisenkassen, co-operatives and private individuals, mainly farmers.

Today, the group of companies comprises the co-operative and parent company, DE VERBAND, and its 10 subsidiaries, which all belong 100% to DE VERBAND. The company operates beyond Luxembourg in Germany, Belgium and France.

In February 2025, DE Verband launched a conversion project together with its implementation partner consenso in order to migrate from the existing SAP ERP environment (Retail) to SAP S/4HANA 2023. rubinion, the consenso partner responsible for supporting the SAP Basis activities at DE VERBAND, completed the team.

The support provided by consenso covered the following areas:

• Project management
• Development management and coordination
• Archiving and implementation of SAP Business Partner as part of a preliminary project
• FI conversion
• Configuration and implementation of ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) to ensure S/4HANA 2023 compatibility of the development projects
• Custom code adaptation
• Introduction of S/4HANA foreign trade
• Processing of simplification items and workshops for know-how transfer
• Introduction of SAP Fiori in selected processes
• Go-live preparation and implementation
• Hypercare

Over the course of the project, about 4,500 findings were processed and a total of 5 conversion runs were implemented – from sandbox, development and test systems to a technical dress rehearsal and the final conversion of the production system on the go-live weekend.

The groundwork for this final step had been laid by the end of October. After implementing all cut-over activities over the weekend, the new SAP S/4HANA 2023 system went live on Sunday, 2 November at 3 pm after just 8 months.

Initial work by DE VERBAND employees on the new environment went smoothly, followed by a correspondingly calm hypercare phase. In other words, an all-round successful go-live – thanks to solid planning and implementation of all the necessary activities throughout the project – and an important milestone on the path of DE Verband's digital transformation.
