Optimisation of the processes related to master and transaction data at SAGAFLOR

SAGAFLOR's SAP S/4HANA transformation with consenso as implementation partner: Now that the technological basis has been created in phase 1 with the brownfield conversion, an optimisation of selected processes is planned for phase 2 in order to fully exploit the potential of the new S/4 world.

Partner orders are one example of this. Previously, these were received by SAGAFLOR in different file formats, manually converted into a predefined Excel format and uploaded to SAP via a correspondingly configured interface and then further processed. A difficult process to handle, resource-intensive, prone to error and without checks to validate the imported data.

Not so today, with consenso's ETL tool – one of the many building blocks of our digital consulting solution ‘Intelligent Data Modelling’.

ETL stands for Extract – Transform – Load and describes a process in which data is extracted from several sources, possibly with different structures, transformed and loaded into a target structure.

consenso's ETL service refines this process with state-of-the-art technologies to an integrative solution designed to not only load data of manifold forms and contents from a wide variety of sources and via many different interfaces into the SAP system, but also to comprehensively validate and cleanse it.

The new process for SAGAFLOR partner orders is characterised by user-friendliness and flexibility. The application's modern SAP Fiori interface is used to define the mapping of the fields for each partner once via drag and drop, without the need for IT or development involvement. The partner simply uploads the order data – whether it is available as an Excel or CSV file or provided via an interface. The result is a correctly pre-filled Excel file that can be used in the further process, regardless of format and structure.

A wide range of functions ensures that the data is transformed in accordance with the requirements for further processing. Conditions control the transformation process. Here, too, the individual steps are put together with a simple click of the mouse, ensuring that the correct output is created. Delta loading ensures that only the data changed since the last update is created or updated. Once the initial definition has been made, the ETL tool can automatically integrate further data from the respective partner into the system.

Today, SAGAFLOR benefits from a process that is transparent, reduces manual effort, detects and corrects errors at an early stage, works automatically, significantly improves data quality and saves both resources and costs. Increased digital maturity level, measurable benefits!
