TOM TAILOR brings loyalty directly to the checkout
By integrating its customer app into GK OmniPOS, TOM TAILOR has brought loyalty directly into the checkout process. Store associates can identify customers at the checkout, view club information, make vouchers available and enable customers to benefit from loyalty rewards immediately – even if they do not have their card, app or smartphone with them.
By connecting GK OmniPOS, Salesforce Loyalty and Emarsys, a solution was created that brings together customer service, personalisation and customer loyalty directly at the point of sale.
When customers can forget everything — and still enjoy all the benefits
Customer loyalty today is no longer driven by discounts, points or newsletters alone. It is built where shopping experiences become simple, seamless and personal.
This was exactly the goal pursued by Tom Tailor GmbH when integrating its customer app into GK OmniPOS: the benefits of the customer club should no longer depend on whether customers have their card, smartphone, app or individual vouchers to hand.
Powerful app integration
What initially began in May 2023 as a supporting project following the introduction of GK OmniPOS quickly developed into a successful project in its own right. What started as a functional enhancement evolved into a powerful app integration that supports store associates directly on the checkout screen and provides customers with a significantly more convenient shopping experience.
With further enhancements through to early 2026, the solution continued to evolve into a key component for loyalty, personalisation and service in brick-and-mortar retail.
The challenge: Loyalty should not depend on a smartphone
In fashion retail, the moment at the checkout often plays a key role in shaping the quality of the customer experience. Customers want to use their benefits, collect points, redeem vouchers or receive personalised offers. At the same time, the reality in stores is often more complex: the customer card has been left at home, the smartphone is not to hand, the app has not been opened or an available voucher has simply been overlooked.
For TOM TAILOR, it was therefore clear: loyalty needs to be available where the purchase is completed — directly at the checkout. Store associates needed to be able to quickly find customer data, view relevant club information, clearly display available benefits and make vouchers immediately available for use. All without switching between different systems, without additional applications and without complicated processes.
The solution: Salesforce, Emarsys and GK OmniPOS intelligently connected
The solution integrates the customer app directly into GK OmniPOS. The app is embedded in the left-hand third of the checkout screen, giving store associates access to it exactly where they need it: during direct customer interactions and throughout the checkout process.
Two versions of the app were implemented: one for the item entry screen and one for the payment screen. On the item entry screen, store associates can identify customers flexibly, quickly and securely — by scanning, entering a customer number manually, using an email address or searching by first and last name. The results list also displays the customer’s place of residence, date of birth and email address, helping store associates quickly and reliably identify the correct customer.
Once the customer profile has been retrieved, store associates are given a compact overview of all relevant club information: CLUB ID, level, level points, redeemable points, pending points, points required to reach the next level, email address, date of birth, newsletter status, as well as available vouchers and benefits. The information is clearly filtered and displayed, allowing store associates to focus on advising customers rather than searching for information.
Salesforce and Emarsys as the basis for personalisation
The integration of Salesforce and Emarsys provides particular added value.
Salesforce provides the relevant customer data, while Emarsys is specifically integrated for marketing and communication processes. If, for example, a customer’s date of birth is missing, the store associate can trigger a reminder directly from the checkout. The customer then receives an email asking them to add their date of birth — providing the basis for personalised birthday offers in the future. If the customer has not yet subscribed to the newsletter, an opt-in process can also be initiated directly from the app via Emarsys.
Making benefits available directly at the checkout
The solution is particularly effective when it comes to redeeming benefits.
If a customer has collected enough bonus points, the store associate can convert them directly into a voucher at the touch of a button — for example, “Redeem 1,000 points for a 15% discount code”. Normally, customers do this themselves via their smartphone app. However, if they have forgotten or overlooked it, the store associate can complete this step for them, making the benefit available immediately.
Turning a potential friction point into a genuine service moment
Once the customer has been identified and items have been added to the basket, the solution switches to the payment screen.
There, the customer’s redeemable vouchers are displayed directly as QR codes on the checkout screen. The store associate can scan the voucher directly from the screen — without the customer having to take out their smartphone, open an app or present a code.
This turns a potential friction point into a genuine service moment: customers experience how TOM TAILOR recognises their benefits, makes them readily available and noticeably simplifies the shopping experience.
The central idea: Customer service rather than customer responsibility
Perhaps the most compelling idea behind the project is also the simplest: customers can forget everything — their customer card, smartphone, app or voucher — and still enjoy all the benefits in store.
This is precisely where the strength of the integration lies. Loyalty is no longer treated as a separate process, but as a natural part of the checkout experience. Store associates are empowered to actively support customers. Customers feel recognised, supported and valued. And TOM TAILOR has created a technical foundation that meaningfully connects customer loyalty, personalisation and store excellence.
More than a technical integration
By integrating the app into GK OmniPOS, TOM TAILOR has created a solution that brings together several objectives:
It simplifies the checkout process, strengthens customer service and increases the visibility of club benefits directly at the point of sale. At the same time, it supports data quality by enabling missing customer information, such as a date of birth, to be added in a targeted way. Newsletter sign-ups are also integrated into the in-store process without making the experience unnecessarily complicated for store associates or customers.
For store teams, the result is a solution that genuinely supports them in their day-to-day work: all relevant information at a glance, clear options for action and the ability to redeem benefits directly. For customers, it creates a shopping experience that is more personal, convenient and valuable.
Conclusion: Loyalty where it makes an impact
The TOM TAILOR project story demonstrates how modern customer loyalty can work in brick-and-mortar retail. Not as an isolated app. Not as an additional process. But integrated directly into the moment when advice, purchasing decisions and service come together: at the checkout.
By connecting GK OmniPOS, Salesforce Loyalty and Emarsys, a solution has been created that intelligently combines technology and customer experience. It makes loyalty simpler, more visible and more effective — for customers, store associates and the business.
TOM TAILOR demonstrates how a technical integration can become a genuine competitive advantage: an in-store experience where customers do not need to have anything with them to still enjoy all the benefits.
