Successful SAP S/4HANA transformation at Kurth Fleischimporte – efficiency and innovation for premium meat products
In 2025, Kurth Fleischimporte launched its SAP S/4HANA transformation together with consenso as its implementation partner. The aim was to modernise business processes and ensure the company’s long-term competitiveness.
Following three test migration runs, Kurth Fleischimporte successfully went live with SAP S/4HANA in December 2025.
The chosen transformation approach, “greenfield with brownfield elements”, combines a new implementation with the selective migration of proven processes and existing data.
From Readiness Check to SAP S/4HANA go-live
In preparation for this transformation, Kurth had already completed the consenso Readiness Check for SAP S/4HANA in 2024. The results were analysed in workshops, during which the project objectives and implementation approach were defined. Following a four-week preparation phase in January 2025, implementation took place from February to October, followed by a short but intensive testing phase in November. Migration and go-live took place in December 2025, following three test migration runs. Since the start of the 2026 financial year, Kurth has been operating on the new SAP S/4HANA environment.
Greenfield with brownfield elements: Preserving proven processes while enabling innovation
Kurth opted for a transformation approach that we at consenso refer to as “greenfield with brownfield elements”: a new SAP S/4HANA implementation in which proven processes and existing data were selectively migrated. This allowed the company to retain the strengths of its existing processes while benefiting from SAP Best Practices – including a consolidated, future-ready system landscape.
Project principles
Clear guidelines were established for the project approach to ensure speed, efficiency and value-adding results:
- Only necessary developments were implemented, with a focus on added value
- Existing processes and interfaces were reviewed but not automatically replaced
- Optimisation and standardisation were carried out where they made sense
- Performance and SAP Fiori optimisations were applied selectively
